PAC Offers New Addition to Peninsula Festival Offerings
The Peninsula Arts Council is offering an exciting new contest at the Peninsula Festival. The Peninsula Festival, formerly the County Fair, runs from June 12 – June 20, 2010 at the San Mateo Expo Center in San Mateo. Please apply for this contest directly through the Peninsula Festival. The Best of Video Game Art and Animated Film Art Award
Sponsored by the Peninsula Arts Council www.peninsulaartscouncil.org
Awards Offered: Rosette, $100 and a free one-year membership to the PAC
The Bay Area is home to some of the world's most talented and innovative artists producing artwork for the gaming and film animation fields. This award highlights the best of these genres and showcases them for the public to enjoy.
Eligibility: Amateur and professional video game artists or movie production artists should submit their final stills, or graphic renderings in the form of two-dimensional framed and wired artwork, no larger than 18 x 24 and follow the general rules for all art entries.
NOTE: In order to qualify for this award, candidates must apply for the Best of Video Game Art and Animated Film Art Award on the General Entry Form that is submitted with entry fees and due on May 15, 2010. There is no need to enter the work into any of the divisional contest to qualify. If you wish to also enter the work in a divisional contest (ie. Cartooning & Graphics, Digital Enhanced Photography, etc.) , a separate entry needs to be submitted to those divisions along with entry fees). https://www.sanmateocountyfair.com
The Peninsula Arts Council is Seeking Volunteers to Serve
on its Board of Directors and Advisory Council
About the Peninsula Arts Council
The Peninsula Arts Council (PAC) is a non-profit organization devoted to supporting, promoting and advancing the arts in San Mateo County. Funded by memberships and through proceeds from curating three galleries in the San Mateo County Government Center, Redwood City; it:
- Promotes and cultivates the arts through marketing, outreach and education initiatives
- Honors artistic achievement in San Mateo County through an annual Diamond Awards event
- Provides resources to support and increase county arts in education activities
- Maintains a monthly event calendar
- Hosts an artist’s registry to help promote local artists and
- Serves as a community partner and resource.
The Council is guided by a board of directors, each of whom reside and/or work in San Mateo County. The board currently represents Art in Action, Art on the Square, Coastal Repertory Theatre, Silicon Valley Open Studios, Music at Kohl Mansion, San Carlos and Redwood City Arts Commissions, San Mateo County Convention and Visitors Bureau Film Commission, and volunteer arts advocates.
The Board meets on the first Tuesday of every month or as needed.

Applicant Qualifications:
- Must live or work in San Mateo County
- Desire to promote and cultivate the arts in San Mateo County
- Be able to devote 2-10 hours per month as a member of the Board of Directors
- Can commit to a three-year term
- Be a member of the Peninsula Arts Council in good standing
- Serve on a committee. Committees include:
- Cultural Tourism Initiative/Public Art
- Networking
- Arts in Education
- Fundraising
- Membership and Communications
- Business Procedures
- Artist Opportunities
- Annual Diamond Awards Event
Special Expertise
- Representatives from arts organizations in the south county, coastal region and the north county are needed to broaden its areas of reach.
- Expertise in grant-writing, photography, graphic design, marketing, public art and fundraising desired.
