JULIE FELLERS, CMP, CSP, CTM
President
Julie is a graduate of San Diego State University and the Massachusetts College of Art (MCA). At her graduation ceremony at the MCA, the dean encouraged the graduating class to go out in the world and become advocates for the arts. It was a directive that resonated deeply with Julie and she has been an active arts advocate ever since.
In 1998 she joined the board of City Arts of San Mateo and served as an Executive Officer and its Webmaster. As VP of Programming, she organized a summer concert series at the San Mateo Farmer’s Market which would later evolve into the City Arts' Central Park Music Series. She initiated Street Painting to the College of San Mateo Jazz Festival in 1999. The following year she collaborated with Festa Italiana Street Festival and would go on to chair the Chalk Art Gallery at Festa Italiana for the next seven years. She also served as a coordinator and judge for the City Arts of San Mateo national sculpture competition which brought three permanent sculptures to the city of San Mateo.
Julie joined the ARTshare board in 2005 and initiated local participation in the American for the Arts national visibility campaign, October National Arts & Humanities Month. She has served as President since 2006 and has led the transition from ARTshare to the current organization, the Peninsula Arts Council. She is actively engaged in developing “San Mateo County as a Destination for the Arts, Parks and Culture”, coordinating special events such as the annual Diamond Awards and October National Arts & Humanities Month outreach activities.
Professionally, Julie is a marketer, graphic designer, and aspiring interior designer. She is passionate about real estate and has earned the designations of Certified New Homes Marketing Professional (CMP) and Certified Sales Professional (CSP). She also earned a Competent Toastmaster designation (CTM) from the San Mateo Chapter of Toastmasters International.
She is a native of Redwood City, but has lived in Switzerland, Germany, Boston and England. She and her husband David have resided in San Carlos since 1999.
